Greetings from Pittsburgh!
I apologize for not being clear on the last post, so I will try to make this one perfect!
Let us attempt to make a front and back cover for our books. (Those of you that are not making traditional books, must still crit your peers, but you do not have to attempt this particular assignment. Just keep on trucking.)
You are still expected to post 7 images on both blogs, PLUS, at least 3 draft examples of BOTH the front and back covers. We will be critiquing the cover designs only. Discuss design, text and offer many suggestions.

Val, I was wondering when we had to be completely done with the books? I'm still lining up more photo shoots with models but I wanted to give myself enough time to finish all the shoots and putting the book together.

ReplyDeleteThe first and second covers just aren’t working for me. Your first idea is a little too hard to see. I had to look for a while before I recognized the picture. The second one just isn’t public enough for the cover I think. I like the idea of the back cover showing the backside however, that is cute and it diffidently says “the end”. I like the photos chosen for the 3rd cover. Try yellow for the title. Also, maybe try making the “in public places” part smaller than the “Naked Folks” that way it reads as though the second part as a whisper, like a naughty secret.
Ben
Great menu. It is simple and classy. Try making it wider and shorter.
David
I’m not sure what I think of the abstract, paint splattered cover. The font is nice. Try a picture on the front. Make a catwalk in an absurd place and make that the cover.
Donald
I like the second cover, the first refused to load. I like the fuzzy quality and the black band where the title is.
Kenda
The second cover is the strongest. I love the color and the way the door is centered. The title is very good. I love the font, it looks like a signature which is nice because this is an artists book.
Melissa
I can’t decide between the first and second covers. They all look great. Try a yellow spine on the first cover. The font looks good. The second cover may be a bit too dark.
Sabra
I like the grey on the second cover but it may not be the right picture for the cover. It may set the wrong expectations of the type of intimacy seen throughout your book.
Shelley
I like them all so much I can’t decide. Probably the 2nd cover is my favorite. I love the plane flying through the title. Try bringing th opacity down a bit more on the title.

ReplyDeleteI can really feel this guys strain in this series. I like that all the pictures expose an emotion that you also feel, like struggling. I dig it.
